Key experience/involvement

Rantshonyane John Kololo is a Bsc.Civil Engineering graduate (1998) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, formerly known as the University of Durban Westville. He is registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and is a corporate member of the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE).

During his studies, he worked voluntarily for Lofty’s Construction and Port Elizabeth Municipality to gain experiential training. Upon completion of his studies, he joined Fongoqa Skade Toyi & Associates Consulting Engineers as a Junior Design Engineer in their roads section. Here he was a member of a design team for both the Maputo Development Corridor, Section 8C of the N4 Toll road and Wet services at the Gateway Shopping Centre, Durban north, KZN.

He then joined MZA Consulting Engineers as a Design Engineer responsible for overall road designs, storm water systems, township development services and documentation.

In 2001 after spending just over one year with MZA Consulting Engineers, Mr Kololo was promoted to the position of Associate Director for the Transportation and Project Management division. His responsibilities, among others, were to oversee both divisions in the company’s head office in Gauteng and the Regional office in Mpumalanga and to ensure maximisation of profits.

He coordinated and was also the resident engineer for the construction of exit roads and bridges at OR Tambo International Airport,a contract worth approximately R44m.

He has vast experience in documentation, design, project management, site supervision and dispute resolution.

In 2003 he joined MRD Consulting Engineers as the Managing Director for a short period as he had to concentrate fully on Makone Consulting Engineers activities in 2004.
